Le Critique de Film

Last night, after the cookies were baked, we watched Paris, je t'aime. What a delight! It's a collaboration of 18 diverse directors who came up with 18 5-minute short films that take place in paris and center around the general theme of different types of love. Then the 18 were sewn together into one long movie. I decided that I enjoyed 11 of the 18. 11 were really watchable, 7 were just alright and/or hard to understand. mais oui! fenetre zut alors je ne parle francais. ahem. where was i?
Oh yes- I liked these: #2, Quais de Seine 5, Loin du 16e 7, Bastille 9, Tour Eiffel 10, Parc Monceau 12, Place des fĂȘtes 13, Pigalle 14, Quartier de la Madeleine 16, Faubourg Saint-Denis 17, Quartier Latin 18, 14e arrondissement

Anywho, it's heartwarming, sad, comical, scary, etcetera and aptly portrays the depths of human emotions. Elijah Wood even falls in love with a vampire. {And, potentially good news, a similar movie entitled new york, i love you is being released} Now, as for the rest of my recommendations-- I'll have to get to those another time. But let's just say mi husby y yo be fans of the foreign. <!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

Can't fight it

Tagging me is a very smart way of getting me to blog again. (This is for you Aubrey!)

  6 Random Things About Me:

1. I have an obsession with flossing. Anytime, anywhere. Not shy about pulling out the floss. It makes my teeth feel like they're floating.

 2. From January 25th 2007 through May 11th 2008 I typed in my journal on MicrosoftWord every.single.day. Consecutively. Every day during that time is accounted for. (Must be honest- I did forget once in a while, when I was camping in the desert wilderness for instance, but I would fake an entry the next day instead.) Shamefully, my trip to Europe totally threw me off and I haven't gotten back into the groove.

 3. Since I was homeschooled until 4th grade, when I resumed my public education I was an odd duck. I wore gold knee-high cowboy boots over striped stretchy pants to school. I read thick chapter books during recess. I played the flute during recess. I beat all the kids at math games. I got my first B (on a science test) and had nightmares for weeks that I wouldn't get into college. 5th grade & being in a class with old friends led itself into a pattern of normalcy that I maintained through the next 7 years. But I always felt I carried a "homeschooled aura".

 4. Didn't eat chicken until age 10. From ages 1 through 9 I thrived on cold cereal, peanut butter sandwiches with no crust, spaghetti with butter, pizza without sauce, and dunkaroos. To this day, chicken has been my most prized eating achievement.

 5. I have actually been blogging since 2002. Since then, I've written in about 4 or 5 blogs, most of which I can't remember how to find them. But the original, in all of its immature, adolescent glory, can be found here.

6. Some people call me Jennifer. Most people call me Jenn. A select few call me Jenny (e.g. those who've known me since I gracefully exited the womb). Unaware of ever being called anything else.

 The End!

P.S. I tag Aaron (again, in case he missed the 1st one), Meagan, Marissa, Kristi, and whoever wants to play.

P.P.S. Happy Birthday, Mom

Holy Sabbath Day of Prayer

Once again it is the Day of Rest around these parts. I enjoy and look forward to Sundays, generally speaking. However, sometimes I wonder for how many people it is actually a day of rest. For most [*Mormon folk], it is a day of early morning meetings, worship, instruction, more meetings, choir rehearsals, visiting, cooking, socializing, baking, and for some, last-minute scrambling to finish homework and studying. When planned and finangled, a nap is thrown in- that must be the Resting.

Today in Sacrament Meeting I had a delightfully irreverent time singing the closing hymn. No kidding- try and sing that without having thoughts of, as Monica put it, "Stepford Children." I was doubled over in laughter and singing at the exact same time- talk about multi-tasking.

Have a super sabbath, and most of all remember you should always be polite and treat ev'rybody right and in ev'ry place be affable and kind. Hark!
